Yes, yes, yes, I have been slacking.

Life hasn't been exciting (work, cook, watch Six Feet Under, repeat), so there hasn't really been much to blog about. I apologize for the ridiculous slacking off, and promise to be better.

First, I want to say how much I'm going to miss my beautiful Bailey boy, who passed away yesterday. He was honestly one of the nicest, sweetest dogs I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I know he's been in pain for a while now, so it's comforting to know that he's not hurting anymore, and is in a happy place. Josh assured me he's in doggy heaven with lots of nylabones :) Mr. Bailey will definitely be missed by everyone, and was extremely loved!

On a lighter note, this weekend has been fun so far! We're dog sitting for a golden retriever-chow mix, Champ, who is a sweet little guy. It's fun having two doggies here... hmm.  Anyway, Josh and I went out for random adventures today. We went to Andrew's downtown for lunch. We each got beers, and I got a pastrami and swiss sandwich, which was quite tasty. We then went to Best Buy so Josh can do his manly things. I played with my dream camera the whole time. I grabbed a brochure and it's now on our fridge as a new life goal. If anyone ever gets an extra $700 to throw my way, fee free! Thanks. So, after that, we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond, Michael's, Marshall's, those boring stores that I feel bad dragging Josh into, oh well. So, we got home, and Josh started "nerding" with Doug (video games, of course) and I went out for more girl adventures! I went to Khol's and got new sunglasses (mine broke, grr), a picture frame, and a lantern for the deck. Then I went to the grocery store to get things for dinner. Exciting, huh? I'm making one of our favorites for dinner - the cornflake chicken, so yummy.

I hope everyone had a nice week and that you're all having a lovely weekend. I miss everyone!!

Return to the blog world!

Yes, I have been slacking on blogging, but we were away all weekend with no computers, so there's my excuse :)  We were in Clearwater, FL for the Easter weekend, so here are our adventures!

Thursday night we decided to live dangerously; for an old married couple, that is. We went to a karaoke/sports bar, AJ's, with some people. We didn't get there until 10:30 (this is living dangerously, because that's past our usual bedtime. Yes, we are old people). It was a good time! Met some new people, and had fun being social.

Friday morning, we decided Josh was in desperate need of shorts! My mom is quite excited about this purchase, as we bought Josh real shorts - khaki ones! Yes, this is exciting. Then we hit up Dunkin Donuts, duh! Necessity before any road trip! It was quite tasty. Then we hit the road, dog and cats in tow.

We went to Josh's grandpa's Friday night and took him to a wonderful steak dinner! I got prime rib and Josh and his grandpa got filets. Josh and I each had two beers, and grandpa had two cosmopolitans! He said it was the most food he has eaten since Josh's grandma passed, so we are quite proud of ourselves! And he said we cheered up his life, which was really great to hear. So then, of course, he was in bed by about 7pm. So Josh and I went for a sunset walk on the beach, which was lovely! Then we went to the store to get sangria. We sat out on grandpa's dock for a couple hours just talking, listening to music, and drinking sangria. It was a really great night!!

Saturday, we hung out more at Grandpa Brian's house, and then headed to the beach, where we got some hot tans (well, I got tan, Josh got burned). Then we said goodbye and headed to lunch at a dockside restaurant, where we had some amazing bleu cheese burgers. Next, it was off to Grandma and Grandpa Kellard's house. We hung out with them, and I ate some blue crabs - yum! For dinner, we had manicotti, made with cottage cheese instead of ricotta cheese - so much better! Josh and I were absolutely exhausted and ended up in bed kind of early; it was a good night!

On Sunday, Grandma Kellard made us breakfast, eggs and sausage. I called my parents and my grandma, and it was great to talk to them! We then went to see a few different beaches, parks, and lakes. We saw Alligator Lake and the Tampa Bay; sadly, no alligators spotted, but we saw a lot of fish! It was a really nice outing :) We got back and hung out with the Tzigos, playing basketball with Alex and Kallista (we all suck). Then it was time for Easter dinner! We had tons of appetizers, sausage, chicken wings, and shrimp. Everything was delicious! After dinner, we had to say goodbye and head home. We didn't get home until 12:30am. That sucked.

So, it was a really nice weekend! Sucks to be back working, but gotta make da dolla dolla bills, y'all!

Food, Food, Oh how I love Food.

A certain Jessica Bond and I had lengthy discussions regarding food today, and therefore, I shall dedicate this post to food (especially since nothing excitement has happened since my last post). So, FOOD: I LOVE YOU! <3

Our Saturday and My Floppy Hat.

Yesterday was a mighty fine Saturday. Joshua made me breakfast! Eggs and bacon :) And I cut up strawberries. It was delicious!!! Then we hung out around the house planning our day, couldn't really think of plans, so we just headed out with no agenda. We went to Bed, Bath & Beyond to look at coffee makers (we drink pots of coffee on the weekends, not Kuerig, and our maker is slowly dying on us. I I think it took an hour to brew a pot yesterday, and it's still working this morning). After that we went to Old Navy, toooooo many people, so we made a prompt exit. We then went to the mall! Woop Woop! Didn't get anything :( But had fun walking around :)

After the mall we headed over to the "carnival." Now, I thought this carnival would be somewhat cool. Oh hellz no. It was ghetto, there were maybe 10 people there, the ride operators were smoking cigarettes and that paper bag next to them probably contained liquor. Bottom line: It was scary, and we did not go. Such a bummer! Then I went to Barnes and Noble and could not find the perfect coloring book. Fail in the coloring book department. But Burlington Coat Factory had a huge array of floppy hats for $10. So I finally got my floppy hat. Chances are, there will be a beach visit next week, and I have to protect my face ;)

Then we came home and sat out on the deck drinking beer and people watching (adorable, adorable, adorable kids at the park flying kites). Wrangler had a great time watching kites for an hour. Check out my floppy hat (yes, I know it's so exciting).

And my Wrangler getting brushed!!!

We were lazy bums and walked to Papa Johns for dinner. We were going to get Tangled out of the Redbox, but of course, they were sold out. Soooo, I got Love and Other Drugs, which was decent, but only decent. I watched it upstairs in the office while counseling the cats. I thought we were making progress, the hissing and whining would stop for a while and they'd just relax, but nope, 5 minutes later they'd be at it again. It's getting frustrating and sad at this point...

Today, we cut up a cantaloupe. Maybe look at grills? We'll see.
BYE!

Coffee Time Blogging!

Good morning, everyone! Look at the lovely breakfast Joshua prepared for me:

Nice job, boo :) Today, I'm dragging him to the carnival. In return, he'll got to play video games last night. Works for me!!!

I played slacker chef Kaitlin last night. I bought 1/2 of a rotiserrie chicken. It doesn't look so pretty when you buy it, all cut up and... chicken-y, but boy did it taste good! Then I roasted the rest of the potatoes and roasted asparagus. It was a delicious, tasty dinner! I think between the two of us, we downed a pound of asparagus.

Jessica Bond has inspired me to buy coloring books today. The carnival is next to Barnes and Noble, so I do believe I'll be stopping in there. Maybe I'll sit on the deck with a beer and color.

My mom will be happy to know that we may start the search for the perfect grill this weekend. We may not get one, but the search will begin! We're probably going to get a nice one, no point in buying a cheap-y :) We shall see! Hopefully our deck is big enough for a grill...

There was a massive storm last night that was right over the house for a while. Shockingly, we did not lose power. But this morning when we woke up, there were six huge white birds eating fix outside (we think, they were herrings or egrets, but they may have been too big to be either, not sure). Too cool!

I think that's all the rambling I have for today. Everyone enjoy your Saturdays!!

Friday is the Bomb Diggity.

Daz waz uppp.

I have an exciting day ahead of me! Well, exciting to me at least :)
  • Lunch date with the hubby
  • I'm currently in jeans at work
  • Leaving work at 3:30, hooray!
  • There's a freaking carnival in town
  • When I get home, I'll have a FedEx package from the mom waiting for me
  • I get to play Chef Kaitlin tonight, just can't decide on a meal (ideas????)
  • There is a possibility of some quality beach time next weekend
  • Next week is a 4-day work week for me, hellz yeah!
That's all I can think of now :) On the downside, our freaking cats are still fighting. They had a major fight at 1:30am, knocking things over and hissing. UGH. Tonight, I am having a counseling session in the bathroom with those two. I will sit in there with them until they sort out their differences. Unless they scratch me. Then it's war.

Happy, Happy Hump Day!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Yesterday was an incredibly boring day. I will not ramble on about work, because that's seriously boring. We watched Six Feet Under last night; I think Josh resembles one of the actors on the show (Peter Krause).

I went on a mission to the grocery store last night to buy dinner and beer. I ended up getting pork pinwheels with cheese and spinach from the meat department (we love them, and they're super easy, just stick them in the oven! When I got to the beer aisle, I saw Star Hill was buy-one-get-one ($9 for 12 beers, yes please!), so of course I got them. Brewed in Charlottesville. I thought of you Charlottesville lady as I sipped on the yumminess that is Love.

I cannot wait for this work week to be over! It's dragging by, ugh. Next week is a short week for me, though, no work on Friday. Although, it seems Josh may have work as the courts are not closed, which is odd. We got an invitation to go to Grandma and Grandpa Kellard's house for Easter, so we may go down to the Clearwater area that weekend. I may try to convince Josh to take me to the beach again :) And maybe even the Wrangler-dog!

Monday, April 11, 2011

I hate working on days like today.

It is gorgeous today and I am stuck inside. Awful. I have my office window open, which I guess helps a little, but I would love to be outside. It's 81 and sunny at the moment, and I need a tan.

Yesterday, Josh and I had a lovely, lazy Sunday. We drank our coffee, got my prints from the correct Office Depot (which are now in photo albums, yay!), and went to the store. Then we walked to the Redbox with the dog and got Tron. Josh loved it, I semi-liked it, so I cooked while watching it!

We made a Greek hamburger concoction created in the minds of Joshua and Kaitlin. It turned out great! Next time we'll need a sauce with it, I'm thinking tzatziki sauce, for sure. It won't let me upload a photo, ugh, but it's on Facebook!

Everyone have a lovely week! Miss you all :)

If Life Gives You Limes, Make Margaritas!

Yesterday was a hot day in Tallahassee. 92 degrees was the high. We started off the day with our morning coffee. Then we headed out to run some errands. We started off by dropping off our Redbox movie (yes, we rented Mean Girls 2, all the good movies were gone!!) and grabbing some Panera for lunch. Try the steak and bleu cheese salad, trust me, it's worth the entirely-too-high price. After Panera, we went to Bed Bath & Beyond and got coffee (hooray for coupons!). After that, we went to Office Depot to pick up some prints I had ordered from the Rehearsal Dinner and Honeymoon. I got free prints when I bought my new camera, so I figured I should use them. Too bad we showed up to the wrong Office Depot to pick them up. Smart move, Kaitlin. Today, we're going to the correct office depot to try again. After that, we went to Best Buy to waste some time. I have a new dream camera. Please feel free to buy me this camera, as I think I am in love.

Thank you.

We then decided to kill some time. What better way to kill time on a 90 degree day then drinking margaritas?? That's what we did, and boy were they tasty (and super strong)!! We sat there for about an hours, relaxing and enjoying the delicious beverages.

Then we came home and relax for a bit, and tried to make plans to go on a double date with another couple. As we were on our way to pick them up, they bailed on us. So, we went out anyway, and sat outside at Po'boys. I got crawfish, a salad, and a beer. It was delicious (wish I had taken a photo, oops!).

Then we came home and watched Six Feet Under and drank some Red Stripe (tasty Jamaican beer). We got invited out, but it was already too late and we didn't want to pay a cover fee (and didn't want to drive after the beer), so we watched more Six Feet Under and went to bed.

Today, we are hanging out around the house, and at some point, are going to go to the correct Office Depot and get my prints. Tonight, we're making a Greek Hamburger concoction that Joshua has created in his mind. Pictures will be taken :)

And on the eighth day, God created coffee.

This lovely photo is one I came across while designing my blog (Google image search, you rock my world). Click on it to make it bigger to get the full effect. Of course it's not the real image painted in the Sistine Chapel, trust me, I've been there, but it fits with my blog title, so I'm going to post it.

So far this has been an uneventful Friday night. We are about to walk to Redbox to rent Tron (yay, free movie rent coupon), hopefully it's not too terrible. Obviously, it's Josh's night to choose a movie.

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie...

Yes, the mystery meal was Chicken Parmesan, a favorite of mine!! The chicken turned out perfectly, although I now know I need to purchase a chicken flattener thingy (whatever they're called). The zucchini was cooked perfectly and was sooooo good! I slacked off on the bread though and bought frozen... it was on sale!!! There was a lot of work that went into this meal, but it was well worth it and the hubby loved it. Success!!!

Today, I get off work at 3:30. Oh how I love Fridays; I get to wear jeans and go home early! We plan on taking Tollie out of her seclusion tonight (poor sick kitty), but are just hoping she doesn't attack Parker... feisty little sick kitty she is!

Happy Friday, everyone!

This suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.

Good morning, everyone. Tonight, I am going to cook an amazing meal. What is it? You're just going to have to wait to see. Yes, I'm leaving you in suspense. It's a dish I've never cooked with sides I've never cooked, and I'm excited. So, this post is your teaser for what is to come (and I just really love that quote, as I'm a big Gene Wilder fan).

Everyone have a lovely Thursday, and if it's not lovely, just stop and think, "hey, at least tomorrow is Friday," and then it will be even lovelier!

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Super slow day at work today. Dragging... by... so... ... ... slowly...

Therefore, I blog! Sadly, nothing much is going on. Last night we ate sloppy joes (thanks, hubby!), watched Six Feet Under (we are slightly addicted), and had computer time on the bed (with our boys, girl is still sick).  This morning we drank coffee, got ready, and then headed off to work. We had a cute little lunch date today. I picked him up from work, we went to Firehouse and ate like pigs, and then said goodbye and headed back to work. Such exciting lives we lead.

This is officially a boring blog, oopsies! I'll leave everyone with a cute video. Now tilt your head and go, "awwwww."

Typical night at the Brian house.

I love my boys :)

A storm is a brewin'

(Haha, get it? a brewin'? As in coffee? Double meaning? Ok, I'm done.)

Downside of the day so far:
We lost power this morning due to a massive storm last night.

Upside of the day so far:
We had just finished brewing our coffee when the power shut off. Perfect timing!

Everyone have a happy Tuesday!!

My first fan club letter.

Jessica Bond has requested that I answer the below questions. Ahhh, this shall be a treat! Jessica Bond, I have decided to spice up this entry with a little photo montage of our friendship. Enjoy, woman, enjoy!

Q: Do you eat out more than you cook? Or do you cook more than you eat out?

A: Well, sadly the answer at the moment, is we probably eat out (I count carry-out, too) about as often as I cook. But I have made a vow to cook more. We only ate out once twice weekend, so we are off to a good start. Tonight, we were going to make sloppy joe's, at the request of the hubby, alas, he has to work late. I am cooking for myself tonight, and making my specialty: pasta with olive oil and feta! Sloppy joe's will just have to wait until tomorrow.

Q: How many children would you like to have?

A: Well, I have three feline/canine children already, but I am assuming this question is referencing human children. We would like to have two human babies. Perhaps eight, if I somehow end up being like octomom. Oh, that would be crazy. I could be on a trashy reality show, and you could watch me and scream JERRY, JERRY, JERRY! Because three of my kids would be named Jerry. It's hard to name eight kids, I'm sure, there would have to be some repeats. BUT, if I do not become an octomom, two is enough, please.

Q: I intend to stay at my current job for _________ days/weeks/months/years,etc.

A: FOREVER! Just kidding, hellz to the no. More like, a couple years. We'll kind of see what life brings us and where it takes us.

Q: I will get a new cat or dog in the near future.

False-ish. If one desperately needs a home, we'll take it. But, two cats and a dog are good for now! I do want a puppy though, a golden retriever or a chocolate lab. Speaking of cats and dogs, our Tollie is sick right now (she's your goddaughter, Jessica Bond), and has been quarantined in the upstairs bathroom since Friday. You need to send her a Get Well Soon card.

Q: Have you had a hangover since being in Tallahussy?

Umm, I believe so, but a mild one. Silly pub crawls, so much brewsky. We started at a cupcake place, where we had a beer, then went to another place, and another place, and another place, and another place, and I do believe there was another place. The "hangover" was gone by noon though, so it was an amatuer. I was eating grilled cheese (no lie) that afternoon! Good news, though, I didn't get any butter on my clothes!

Q: Are we penpals?

Well, Miss Panda, as president of your fan club, I have sent you a card. As the almost-Mrs.-Nakamura, you have sent me a save-the-date. So, if that constitutes as being pen pals, then yes, yes we are. I also enjoy texting you when I mean to text my husband. Jessica Bond and Joshua Brian look awfully alike. So, in that respect, we are text message pen pals! And we chat on GChat, so we are GChat pen pals!

Q: Do you like answering my questions?

YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES!

Q: Will you be pregnant at my wedding?

Well, I went to a lady doctor and said, "look, I really need to give birth on October 15, 2011 at 6:30pm. I have a friend who is getting married, and I really need to steal her thunder." So, I will show up to your wedding 9 months pregnant, on. the. freaking. dot. In other words, no, I will not be pregnant at your wedding.

The first post is the sweetest.

Well, good morning everyone! Welcome to my attempt at blogging. Josh and I have decided I need a hobby and, hey, this is a start, right? This blog is a way to keep everyone up-to-date on life in Classy Tallahassee (or my life as a Talla-hussy, as Jessica likes to put it). I'm going to try to be good about updating! If you don't want to have to check every day to see if I updated, there is a nifty little "stalk me by email" option at the right of the page. So, it just gives you another method of stalking me. You're welcome.

Life is Florida is great. Of course, I miss everyone back home, but I am really enjoying finally living the married life how it should be lived (together!!!). We have been cooking together, having our famous deck beers together, and making big kid purchases together (a weed whacker was last week's purchase, and a grill is our next big purchase). We're both doing well at our jobs, which is always nice. Josh won his first jury trial this past week, which is huge for someone in criminal defense, and I am getting a lot of compliments at my job. We both have our own offices with doors and windows; hello, adulthood!

So, let's see, what have we done this weekend? Friday night we were lazy and ordered pizza (for him) and Chinese (for me), and hit up the Redbox. He chose Due Date. It was decent. We still have an agreement though, we hate Zach Galifianakis. Saturday, we had our morning coffee, hung out around the apartment, then got milkshakes at Steak and Shake (I am trying to become a coupon clipper, and they have some mighty fine coupons). Two meals and two milkshakes for under $9.00. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. We then went to Springtime Tallahassee (downtown festival) and walked around, working on our tans. Then we came home, got Josh's car washed, had our deck beer, and watched my movie choice (Never Let Me Go. Most. Depressing. Movie. Ever. Ever.). And now we are at Sunday, no clue what we're doing today! But, mom, I will be cooking dinner.

I do believe this is all for today. I will leave you with a picture of me and my milkshake. Tasty, tasty!
