Afternoon Blogging!

I have a case of the Tuesdays. This is what happens when Mondays are holidays!

I had a lovely weekend, even if I was a bit under the weather, wah. I started feeling icky at work Friday. We were going to grill out, but I was way too icky feeling to simply marinade chicken, sooo Josh picked up a Hungry Howie's pizza on his way home. I devoured the pizza, and then we watched "Woman in Black." It was fun watching Harry Potter run away from ghosts, I must admit! It didn't scare me too, too bad, so I slept great :)

I still felt icky on Saturday, but I refused to let that bring me down :) I went on a shopping mission to buy a new quilt for our bed... it was a failure. 1. Because I didn't find "the one." 2. Because it was freaking hot (97 degrees) and I wanted to hide in my air conditioned house). 3. I got hungry, of course! So, I headed home for lunch and relaxation time with Joshua and the animals, and it was amazing. I did venture back out for more shopping and was once again unsuccessful. Grilled chicken salad was for dinner, and it was delicious. Unfortunately, I was still not feeling well. I tried to stay awake, "took a nap on the couch" at 8:00, woke up at 10:30, and told Josh "I guess I'll go to bed now." Needless to say, it was not an eventful Saturday night in the world of Kaitlin, as I felt like crappo!

Sunday, we decided to have a super productive day! We decided to finally splurge on shelving for our living room. We went to tons of stores and finally decided on a set of bookshelves from World Market. We also picked up a desk from Staples for our Monday activity (the office). Sooo, we get home, assemble the first bookshelf, get all excited because it looked great, and opened the other one. It had a huge chunk taken out of the wood. We had to drive all of the way back to World Market, return the bookshelf, and have them order us a new one as the damaged one was the last one they had in stock. SO disappointing. We were so excited to get the living room beautiful, and now it's lopsided. A big rawr to you, World Market. After all of our work, it was dinner time! Joshua grilled us some delicious NY Strips and we made some green beans. We also ate some Boston Creme Pie we got at Publix. DELICIOUS! My husband is becoming quite the master on the grill. My brain doesn't remember what we did Sunday night, haha. Silly brain :) I blame the sickness, as I was still under the weather.

Monday, it was "clean our disaster of an office" day. Oh, how I had longed for this day. When we moved in, we never really made our office nice or pretty - we just threw stuff in there. Well, I was sick at staring at this stuff. We cleared everything out of the office. We put the leather couch by the curb (so sad, but our Wrangler had destroyed it). A man who owns a pit bull rescue now has our couch so more dogs can destroy it; this makes me happy :) SOOO, after everything was out of the office, we set up the entertainment center to include both Josh's XBox and my Super Nintendo! SCORE!!! We (well, Josh) then assembled the new desk and it looks so great! Eventually, we'll get a guest bed to put in there for all of our visitors (the hidden message here is VISIT US, EVERYONE!). It looks soooooo much better. We'll work on finishing it up, but it makes me happy that it's not a clutter closet anymore. We grilled some bratwurst Monday night (once again, the boy is great on the grill) and then I booted up my Netflix for a lazy Sunday night (since I'm still not feeling well).

And here we are at Tuesday. The only noteworthy items for today:
- I had a brownie batter milkshake from Zaxby's - HOLY DELICOUSNESS, BATMAN!!!
- Jessica and I had fun attempting to stalk my old roommate; hardly any luck. She must not exist, be in the witness protection program, or be in a loony bin. Because if we can't stalk someone down, they do not exist.

Here are some (terrible quality/angled) photos of our home improvements from the weekend :)

Ellie helping her dad with the bookshelves.

The bookshelves on one side of the fireplace.

The bookshelves on the other side of the fireplace. (Please excuse the wiring; that is a work in progress)
My Super Nintendo back in commission! WOOHOO!
The new desk! Matches the TV stand :)

Graduation weekend fun!

I am back to to blog, woohoo! I had a lovely, lovely weekend in Virginia. I don't have to whine about freaking Monday today, because my Monday was great. Now, this Tuesday on the other hand... work messes up everything.

So, let me discuss my loverly weekend :)

Thursday, the husband was kind enough to drive me to the airport. Once we said goodbye, I went through security to get on my plane. Now, security always makes me nervous. I'm a nervous flyer. The flight itself never makes me nervous; I'm completely calm once I'm on the plane. It's just getting on my plane, connecting flights, etc. that makes me a nervous wreck. So, of course, security wouldn't go smoothly. First, I have to get my head patted down because of my bobby pins. Nope, those are not weapons, missy. However, the knife that I was unknowingly concealing in a bag within a bag... yep, that's a weapon. TSA destroyed my luggage, going through my panties, dresses, etc. to find this weapon. It was the freaking knife I use to cut cheese at my office. I tried to sneak it on to the plane. Way to go, Kaitlin, way to go. Finally, after repacking my bags, saying goodbye to my beloved cheese knife, and awkwardly finding a place to sit at my now-crowded gate, I was on my way to Virginia! I got in around 11, and then hung out with the family :) Such an exciting Thursday!

Friday, my dad made eggs and sausage for breakfast, nom nom nom! Then, we hung around before going to Short Pump. My gosh, I miss that mall. We had a light lunch there and then headed off to Charlottesville! We started the unpacking/cleaning of Allison's apartment, did some shopping at the UVA bookstore, and then headed off to some Mexican for dinner. Grilled shrimp quesidillas were my choice; SO GOOD. Allison and I grabbed a Redbox movie (What's Your Number?) so I got to stare at Chris Evans' near nakedness, which made me happy. Then it was off to bed on my comfy air mattress.

Well, Saturday, I woke up on the floor. My air mattress had deflated. Thanks, air mattress! So, the back was a wee bit sore in the morning. First, we headed off to an alumni breakfast for graduating students (my mom is a UVA alumni). I love free breakfast, guys. It was delicious! Nom nom nom nom nom. Then, we headed off to downtown Charlottesville to check out the farmer's market. It was fun to walk around, but we didn't actually get anything. We then headed back to campus for a reception at the President's house. It was nice! Free food again (nom nom nom cheese) and punch (I love punch). We got to tour the house, and had a nice time! I think after that (we did so much, the sequence of events is soooo off in my mind), we hit up the UVA bookstore again, and Allison got her fancy pant's diploma frame. She also got her very first pillow pet. I got a UVA t-shirt. Gotta represent Virginia in Florida, of course! Then we did other stuff (my mind is drawing a blank, I am sleepy). Then, DINNER! We ate in downtown Charlottesville at Positively 4th Street. Delicious. I had a Whole Wheat Rigatoni, which was sooo delicious. Oh how I love me some "boring" pasta :) After that, we relaxed in the parents' hotel room, where I got hungry again (I know, everyone is shocked), so I treated us all to some Ben & Jerry's. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, chocolate! We then went back to Allison's apartment, grabbed our clothes for graduation, and headed back to the hotel (I was not sleeping on the floor again, bahahah) for a good night's sleep!

Sunday was graduation day! The day started off with a continental breakfast that was fantastic! We then headed to campus, dropped Allison off at her sorority house, and then headed for the Lawn to get some seats! So. Many People. There were over 6,000 graduates. Each graduate got three guest tickets. Everyone was on the lawn. So. Many. People. We got decent seats and relaxed until the procession started. It took an hour to get 6,000 graduates on the lawn. We actually managed to spot Allison in the crowd (thanks to the balloons her sorority gave her)! We then sat for another hour and a half through speeches. So. Long. Katie Couric's speak was cute; the other's were boring. Thankfully, we were in the shade for the majority of the ceremony. Once this ceremony was over, it was onto Allison's politics ceremony. This started late, so we sat for another hour and a half (in a non-airconditioned gym, fun!). But it was soo worth it, because Miss Allison got her degree :) Then it was a photoshoot on the lawn, of course! Then back to the apartment to move the rest of Allison's stuff out of her apartment, and then back to Richmond! Texas Roadhouse was the dinner choice. We were so, so happy to eat considering none of us had eaten since the continental breakfast about 12 hours before. I got an amaaaazing prime rib. SO GOOD. Then, it was off to Nanny's to drop off Allison's new stuff. It was so nice to see her, even if just for a little while :) I got to show her pictures of her new great grandson, Henry - that made her so happy. Then, it was off to the house where I pretty much immediately collapsed into bed for a 10.5 hours slumber. AMAZING.

Monday, dad made eggs and bacon for breakfast, nommmm! Then, it was time to say goodbye to the sister who had lifeguard recertification - le sad :( The parents and I headed off to the Williamsburg outlets, where I got some new shirts and a delicious lunch (mmm, seafood springrolls). Good times :) Then, it was off to the airport, womp womp. It was so le sad to say bye to the parents, as it always is. The good thing is I made it through security without being a national threat! Hooray! The bad thing is my flight was delayed due to weather in Atlanta. Typical. Sooooo, when I got to Atlanta, I got to rush from concourse A to concourse E to a flight which, for all I knew, had already left according to the boards. Luckily, it was still there! I ended up being 45 minutes late to Tallahassee, but at least the husband was there to get me :) We went home, I downed a piece of chocolate cream pie for dinner (I was starved but it was the only thing I had the energy to eat) and then collapsed!

Holy cow, that was a long blog. SORRY! But I did a lot of stuff, bahahahaha! Thanks to my family for a lovely weekend; love and miss you guys!!!!

I should probably work now.

I'm so excited...

In the wise words of Jessie Spano (Saved by the Bell, duh), "I'm so excited, I'm so excited." However, unlike the caffeine addict, Miss Spano, I am not scared. Why am I excited? I leave for Virginia tomorrow! WOOHOO! Miss fancy-pants Allison is graduating from UVA, so of course I have to be there!

I started packing last night. I have two cameras charged and ready, I'm stealing Josh's iPad to cope with the boredom of a three hour layover, and I have mother's day gifts in tow! Now, the clothes. I am going to be there three full days and one half day. I think I packed 6-8 dresses last night. Oh, dear. Ellie helped me, and we couldn't decide which ones to pack, so we just kept sticking more in the suitcase. I haven't even started on non-dress items yet. The sad thing is, and this always happens, I will pack a suitcase filled with clothes, get to Virginia, open the suitcase, and then go, "WTF? Why did I pack these clothes? They all suck!" Every. Single. Time.

Worst fashion major ever. This is something I should be good at.

Tonight, I will finish packing. I'M SO EXCITED, I'M SO EXCITED <3

Oh Zach Morris, your hair was so beautiful.

The weekend I got a tattoo.

Hello there, everyone! Here's my usual mention of how much of an enemy Monday is. Couldn't the world have just let me sleep for a few more hours? Is that so much to ask? Yes, yes it is. Because I'm an overachiever whose biggest fear is getting to work late. Darnit!

Moving on :)

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend; ours was quite nice!We both got off work early Friday, so we headed out for some mother's day shopping :) I cannot disclose where we went or what we got, as neither of the mothers have received their gifts. Then, I ate some phenomenal buffalo chicken pizza at Momo's. It was a nice of gift and food success!

PIZZAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Saturday, we woke up (as people typically do on Saturdays), had coffee time, and watched some Game of Thrones. Josh has been reading the books and loves them. Our friend, Zach, has the first season on his computer, so Josh went over Friday night and burned them onto our external hard drive. We can watch them using his Xbox, so it works out really well! The series reminds me of The Tudors with the visual appeal, music, scenery, etc., so now I want to rewatch that series. I really like Game of Thrones. I feel like I saw more boobies and butts than I ever have (especially boobs, geez), but I enjoy the show! I can see why men love it, bahahahaha!

I then went out for a little more shopping and we cleaned the house a bit. I got Miss Ellie a fancy new collar (she decided to lose her old collar in the backyard and then proceed to chew it; gotta love puppies) for her first birthday! My little lady is a year old :) Time flies!

Girly puppy collar, awwwwwwww!
Then it was more Game of Thrones! We ate some delicious NY Strip for dinner (Joshua is getting very good at making steak) and then relaxed for the rest of the night. We went to bed at old person bed time (before 11, do not judge) and it was splendid!

MMM, steak! (Note: It's not burned. Joshua rubs it with espresso!)

Sunday was a very nice day. We slept in until nearly 9 on accident (longest. most amazing. night. sleep. ever.) Josh (with the pups in tow) then headed off to Dunkin Donuts to get us some donuts. Please prepare yourselves for the most tragic story ever told. Josh, being a good human being, held the door open for another man, thus letting the man in line ahead of him. The man then proceeded to order 6 dozen donuts. WTF, that's 72 donuts; who the eff needs 72 donuts? This douchebag stole all of the donuts leaving poor Joshua in line with no donuts to buy. He then had to go to Publix and buy us pastries there. This is tragic, because when you're expecting Dunkin Donuts, your stomach needs Dunkin Donuts and this a-hole screwed up our dream of donuts. So sad. So sad. My danish was yummy, though :)

Anyway, sorry for the sob story. We then watched more Game of Thrones, and then headed out for some time-waster shopping. We walked around the mall, returned one of our mother's day gifts (I found a superior gift after purchasing something), and then split some teriyaki chicken! It was tasty. Then we went to Wal-Mart (SO EXCITING) and then Starbucks (we were on a food/beverage spree yesterday) where I got a double chocolate chip frapp, which was so good. Then, you guessed it, we were home watching more Game of Thrones (Joshua is very excited about this show).

Then, it was off to Karen's carnival themed birthday party! We ate kettle corn and corndogs. We had a cupcake decorating contest (I got second place, baller!). We got temporary tattoos (see below); mine was taken off this morning in preparation for work, so sad). We got to watch Zach and Max pie each other in the face. We got to guess what was in a mystery box (I won; it was a toy elephant!). The boys played with waterguns and ring toss). We then watched Maru videos (Here on YouTube). And then we played Apples to Apples. It was a good time!

Butterfly!!!
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend; I will see some of you this weekend!!!! SO EXCITED :)

HI GUYS.

Obligatory: MONDAYS SUCK.

Moving on :) Friday was excellent. Both attorneys were out of the office. I left at 2:00 but got paid until 3:30. I got to bug the husband at the office for an hour and a half while I waited for him to leave. He loves when I bug him, muhahaha! We then went home, said hi to the doggies, bought movie tickets, and then went right back out. We ate some appetizers at Chili's for dinner, nom nom nom, and then rushed to the movie theater to beat the crowds. Well, we got there an hour early and the line for the IMAX showing was already wrapping around. We still got great seats, though. Our showing was completely sold out and the theater was packed. Guys, maybe I'm a huge nerd, but The Avengers was one of the best movies I have seen recently, if not ever. It was really funny, too. I had seen all of the intro movies (Iron Man 1 & 2, Thor, Captain America) with the exception of The Hulk (because I hear it sucked) because I am married to a nerd :) But I strongly suggest going to see the movie! Thor and Captain America = eye candy. That's a good enough reason, ladies :)

Saturday was a nice day. We got some Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast (two iced coffees and a dozen donuts: pigs), hung out around the house, and then went on a mall adventure. But first, we went and got our hair chopped off. Mine is now a little above my shoulders with a few layers and it feels GREAT. It is way too hot here for long frizzy hair. Afterward, at the mall, we got Joshua a new Kenneth Cole suit for $150! Not too shabby :) And I got a smoothie at Tropical Smoothie, and that's better than a suit in my mind. We relaxed around the house for the day, which was wonderful, and then I made corn flake seasoned chicken for dinner - quite delicious!

Sunday was another relaxing day. We took the pups for a nice walk. Then they had one of their "lay on the floor and pant" parties. Josh and I got bored of sitting around so we went on a Best Buy/World Market run (they're next to each other so he goes in one store and I go to the other; I'm sure you can guess who went where). We did stare at refrigerators, which was so exciting (we're in the market for a new one, as ours loves to leak). We are so grown up when we get super excited about freaking refrigerators :) After that, we got some steak kabobs from Publix (yeah, yeah, yeah, they were premade but delicious). We went home, relaxed some more, and then started the grill. I made some homemade tiger dill sauce (a horseradish sauce from Outback we both love) and Josh started up the grill. Delicious dinner. I was in a food coma afterward. Then, we relaxed more (we truly love relaxing) and I watched Once Upon a Time, which I LOVE. Then we went to bed at an embarrassingly early old person bed time, which I will not discuss, but I will tell you it was amazing.

This morning, Josh had to get up really early for work, but I got to keep sleeping, muhahaha! I woke up to two fed doggies, two fed kitties, and a nice cup of coffee at perfect drinking temperature. Good job, husband.

I hope all of you had a wonderful-tastic weekend! I will be in VA oh so soon (I was trying on like every dress in my closet this weekend in preparation).
