Caroline's First Easter

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our three-day weekend. Friday, we had lunch with one of Josh's coworkers; he took the coworker shooting (both guns and arrows) while Caroline and I had a wonderful shopping date. Saturday, Josh applied to a federal attorney position in DC (fingers crossed, guys), while Caroline and I relaxed at home. Both were very nice, relaxing days with beautiful weather.

But now onto the important day: Caroline's first Easter! Caroline and I were up early (four month sleep regression is real, but a whole other story), so I worked on getting her Easter basket ready. We let daddy sleep in (he was up early, early with her) while we hung out. We then showed her all of her Easter goodies, and she was actually interested in them. She just looked around and we let her feel everything (she loves checking out different textures). It was a lot of fun!

The Easter Bunny brought her: three new books (two of which were found on Valentine's Day clearance), two sets of forks and spoons for when she starts eating solids soon, Peeps (because they were free and fit in her basket), Easter Piglet and Easter Eeyore (which are actually mine from when I was a kid). Mommy brought her a bracelet that says, "love you to the moon and back" :)

We were all so hungry by this point, so we got dressed and ready to go to brunch. Of course, I had to have a little photoshoot with my girl because 1) we looked adorable, of course, 2) little lady needed to, uh, use the restroom and I was worried the outfit wouldn't last long, and 3) there was rain on the forecast and my hair was doomed.

We then headed out to brunch. Apparently, the dude on the phone on Saturday (when I called to make sure the restaurant was open for Easter) neglected to tell me I should make a reservation. Good thing we got there early, because we got the only non-reserved table outside. The weather was truly gorgeous (70s and sunny) for most of brunch. We were there for a long time just relaxing. I ordered coffee, a bloody mary (later, another would be ordered), and french toast with eggs and the most amazing bacon ever. Joshua ordered coffee, a mimosa, and eggs benedict. He later ordered a waffle because he was still hungry. Caroline ordered a bottle from her diaper bag. Everything was so delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the weather was on our side. Literally, as Joshua was signing our credit card receipt, it started to rain. Talk about perfect timing! I think we may make it a yearly tradition to treat ourselves to fancy-pants Easter Brunch every year :)

After brunch, we headed home for a relaxing afternoon. Joshua mowed the lawn and used the leaf blower on the driveway, while I fed Miss Piglet again. We then took a family walk around the block. After that, it was holiday webcam time with our families and some time on the front porch enjoying the sunshine. Soon, it was time for dinner. Pork chops had been cooking in the crockpot all day (deliciousness: pork chops with dry onion mix, water, cream of mushroom soup, fresh mushrooms, and fresh onions) and I put some sweet potatoes in the oven. We decided to further enjoy the weather by eating outside. We set up a table on the front porch (we need a deck) and had a wonderful dinner outside.

It was an amazing weekend and I hate that we're back at work/daycare today. Two final pictures for this post. In addition to the cutie patootie outfit pictured above (sent by her grandma Brian), she also wore these Easter items (bib made by her grandma Brian and her bunny outfit is from her Memaw Rose).
